About the event

The ancient practice of kirtan, or sacred chanting, cultivates peace, joy and love. Chanting opens us to experience our own hearts. It nourishes us, helping us to live our lives in contact with the source of love inside us. Some of the mantras we’ll explore in this workshop are thousands of years old. They are powerful tools for bringing us into greater alignment and harmony inside, expanding our connection to spirit and helping us to come home to ourselves.

In this retreat, you will:

-Experience your voice as a vehicle for opening yourself through chanting

-Sing sacred names and mantras to help you move more deeply into a state of loving awareness

-Receive ways to sing with more comfort and ease

-Learn about Indian traditions of kirtan, music, and mantra, as well as some of the Gods and Goddesses of those traditions

-Explore gentle movement to support the opening of your voice and your heart

-Take time to nurture yourself, so that you have more to offer to others and to your work in the world

-Leave with tools you can use to create a greater sense of well being as you navigate the challenges in your life

If you wish to come just for the Kirtan on Saturday night with Shantala (September 8th, 7:30 pm), tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. The Kirtan starts at 7:30, doors open at 7 pm. For the Kirtan only event, you can register at the Ananda at Laurelwood website here:
